What do I do if there is a conflict between my team activities and my EDGE activites?

Why is EDGE for you?

Your EDGE Teacher can coach you to develop your time management skills, organize a calendar, and effectively communicate your schedule with your sport coach, and classroom teachers.  Time Managements and self advocacy are the skills you need to balance your academics and athletics so you are successful at both!

The EDGE provides High Performance Strength and Conditioning training that complements your chosen sports to help you reach your full potential each season. We will use an Athlete Management System (VOLT) to provide Off-Season and In- Season Training through your phone or tablet that you can complete at school with your EDGE teammates, with your Rep team, or on your own when you are on the road.

Your EDGE Teacher will record your Volt Accountability and Polar HR training.  Also, we will teach you how to use VOLT to account for one competition or practice while in season; this can be included as part of your evaluation. Finally, we use Fitness testing and the SMART Goal strategy in pursuit of personal excellence.

Where do I practice and train?

You practice and train with your rep team, school teams, and EDGE Strength and Conditioning.

What do I do if there is a conflict between my team activities and my EDGE activites?

You and your EDGE Teacher work together to balance your training schedule to prevent burnout and injury. For instance, if you have early morning swim practice, then that counts as training toward your EDGE ISU as you record your training in your journal and reflect upon your practices and competitions. The goal of EDGE is to work with you to help you manage your busy schedule and maximize your training to help you achieve your academic and athletic goals.

What other types of training will we be doing as a large group of Crestwood EDGE student-athletes?

In addition to all of the options listed above for the multi-sport athlete, you will also be trained on how to properly use and analyze your technical, and tactical skills on video. Reading video is a powerful skill that needs to be trained using specific Coaching programs like HudlTechnique.

Why is EDGE for you?

In this situation we provide all the services above. Most importantly we provide flexibility and support communicating with other teachers.

The EDGE is for you because you need flexibility and support. You will need a place to do your physical conditioning when out of season, or a test rescheduled because you are traveling to a competition. The EDGE credit will provide you with extra credits as you complete an ISU, like your training journal. Earning these extra credits will provide timetable flexibility you will need, especially in your Grade 11 and 12 years.

The EDGE program rewards you for all of the Independent training and journaling you have been doing in your sport because you learn many fantastic personal management skills that we are also teaching in regular classrooms.
